Jens Böckamp (Saxophones, Composition)

Born in 1986, Jens Böckamp studied jazz saxophone and composition at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne as well as at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Since 2005, he has been an active figure in Cologne’s jazz scene.

He recently released his third quartet album, Into The Zone, featuring Dierk Peters, Joscha Oetz, and Dominik Mahnig. Böckamp is a co-founder, saxophonist and arranger of the Subway Jazz Orchestra, and works as a sideman in various bands as well as in theater productions.

Numerous CD and radio productions document his artistic output, which was recognized in 2017 with the prestigious WDR Jazz Prize for Composition. In addition, the Dormagen-born musician has co-run the jazz label FLOATmusic together with Johannes Ludwig since 2014. Since 2020, he has been a permanent member of the Big Band of the German Army.
